Flying on the shirt tails of last week’s post regarding hassle-free income via your fabulous estate, the women of Estate Weddings and Events have compiled a “how to” fit for any party aficionado! Whether you’ve had the theme picked out for your special day since “I do” answered “Who wants a cookie?” or this season’s Winter Wonderland gala was just thrown in your lap, there’s always time to save a pretty penny (and make it look like a golden nugget!)

 1. Décor

One of the toughest parts about planning any event is stressing the small stuff. Often times we get so consumed in the caterers, event space and guest list we forget the little details that really make an event sparkle. Rather than hopping online and ordering two dozen extra bouquets scattered about the property, take an afternoon and go for a stroll. Seriously. Wander by a few vintage and antique shops as open minded as humanly possible and you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find. Handful of old mason jars? Dessert station! Rusticated vintage frames of various sizes and colors? Hang them from the surrounding grounds and insta-photo-opp! Keep noticing how wonderful all of the retired books smell? Stack ‘em up, they make great center pieces for the wise and curious!

 2. Seating

If you’re looking to cut costs in some creative places for your upcoming wedding, think about walking down the aisle with your friends, family and loved ones looking up at you from a much cozier setting. Having an outdoor ceremony? You don’t need a Western themed soiree to appreciate the simplicity and natural beauty of fluffy yellow hay for your guests to rest on. Cover the barrels in blankets or alternate barrels with quilts scattered about. Love the furniture of your own home but don’t know how to incorporate it? Grab an eclectic array of pieces with a few picked up or borrowed, and your ceremony will look straight out of Vogue.

 3. Glassware

Now unfortunately, there really is no getting around needing to provide your guests with silverwear and drinking glasses (well, unless you’re really into finger foods). One way to save on the tumultuous amount of glasswear that is used during an event is to ensure your guests hold onto their stuff! Whether you’re the crafty type who designed the table labels or love those intricately designed by others, provide each guest with a small and unique ornament to adorn their goblets. Have a blast with it and toss them in as a party favor!

 4. Catering

We’ve dropped hints about this cent-saving wonder a few times before and we can’t wait to gush about it all over again! While we absolutely love the beauty of a sit-down feast (taste tests anyone?) there’s something truly remarkable and authentic as the much smaller-scale food truck. Popping up like daisies all over the country,  food trucks are the latest and greatest in culinary trends. While nearly every catering company is happy to create a menu fit for your adventurous taste buds, food trucks have a few things pegged to absolute perfection! Feeling a little bit spicy? There’s an Indian food stand for that. Thinking cute, clean and trendy? Which all organic ice cream and frozen yogurt truck would you like to try first? Fabulous for photoshoots and tasty to boot, this money-saving catering option is really on a roll!

 5. Location

If the next event you’re already scheming over is your wedding, we’ve got a big one! Estate Weddings and Events knows the hopes and wishes that make up your dream day can be as specific as the watt of lighting on your final exit to as broad and open to suggestion as the city to which you wed. One way to save on expenses but expand your dream is to combine your intimate ceremony with the open-air breeze of an outdoor party at the same venue. Gather your guests to the interior of a barn beneath old oak rafters or the large family room filled with joy and comfort then scoot them outside for an evening under the stars. One cost. One location. One amazing day.

Estate Weddings and Events is here to work directly with you to keep your event true to form, even when a few corners need to be cut. Let us know the “must haves”, the “maybes”, the “I have no idea what I’m doings” and we’d love to provide tips and tricks that have saved us on multiple occasions. 3

In this digital age, we are constantly connected to our iPhones, Blackberries, and any other device that allows us to stay connected to our digital world.  Although events are a time to experience something new and unique, we say, if you can’t overcome the connection to technology for a few hours, then embrace it.

We’ve compiled a list of ways to creatively incorporate an iPad into your next event. Read on to see how technology can actually enhance (not distract) from your next estate event (or any event, for that matter).

Use an iPad as “digital decor”

At a corporate event in May, we were blown away when we heard that our client was going to place three iPads on each table in order to share a slideshow of awards and accolades.  Although not all clients will have the budget to provide 30 iPads for a single event, using an iPad on a check-in table is a great way to showcase a wedding couple’s engagement photos or a corporation’s noteworthy milestones.

Create a pop-up photo booth

With free new apps like PopBooth, you can add a photo booth to your event without the high cost of bringing in a heavy, space consuming photo booth. With the ability to pass the iPad around to your guests and have them share their photos directly via Facebook or email in “Party Mode,” your next conference, social event, or wedding can be transformed into an interactive experience. Your guests can also order prints directly from the iPad which still allows your guests to get a traditional printed photo strip (that they wont leave behind on their table after a few drinks). We think that PopBooth is the perfect solution for casual events at unique locations such as the beach or park.

Live stream your event for those who can’t attend

When the story of a bridesmaid attending a wedding via iPad made national news, it was inevitable that the trend of virtual event attendance would catch on. Aside from usingFaceTime to be able to interact with other guests (as did the bridesmaid), you can now easily stream your wedding for multiple guests to experience your event in real time. UStream is a live video broadcast platform that allows you to broadcast your own station with an internet connection. With the ability to password protect the stream, anyone from your company’s employee that is away on business, your relative that is stationed over-seas, or your ill grandmother in Idaho can keep from missing out on your amazing event.

Have your guests “sign” a digital video guest book

As a more personable (and memorable) touch to your next event, have your guests leave a video message, rather than simply signing their name on the mat of a photo or on a dotted line. The Thrilled For You app (for the iPad, iPhone, or Mac desktop) allows your guests to leave an unlimited number of video messages which can be customized to suit your event theme.

Set up a Social Media Lounge

Social media and networking is a never-ending task for companies (and indivuals) these days, so why not have your guests join in on the project. Set up an inviting Social Media Lounge where your guests can Tweet, Facebook, and blog about your event from their perspective. Set up a Facebook page for your wedding and have your guests post their favorite wedding memory on the wall or have you guests Tweet with a unique ‘hash tag’ so that you can see what all your guests are saying about the event. Integrating social media into your event is perfect for your tech savvy guests, allowing them to share your event with their own social media network.

Our esteemed estate, the Bali Gardens, is an exquisite property located in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Bali Gardens has everything you would want to hold your memorable corporate event or retreat and guests, for the first time, will now have access to the interior of the property, including the impressive estate, guest house, and pool house.

Sitting on top of one of the highest points in San Diego, the panoramic view is nothing less than spectacular. This resort style single story expansive home was designed by the late Edward “Ted” Grenzbach, who has been featured over 50 times in Architectural Digest. This 9 bedroom/14 bathroom estate sits on over 9 acres of land. Imported French limestone covers thousands of square feet of interior and exterior spaces of the home. The elegant guest house has a master suite with guest bedrooms as well as three baths, family room, full kitchen, and private gated entry. The pool house is home to a sports bar with full kitchen, family room, 3 bathrooms, and additional guest suite.   Take advantage of the endless possibilities to entertain your clients or get away for the week in your own private resort.

Hold a wine tasting and chocolate pairing in the wine cellar and tasting room, or have a cooking class in the commercial sized kitchen or at the outside BBQ entertaining area. Learn how to mix classic cocktails at the oversized bar. Breathe in the fresh air at sunrise or sunset during your meditation retreat, and practice yoga in the Balinese and Mediterranean influenced gardens. Get in shape at your own private gym and loosen up your sore muscles with a dip in the black bottom pool and spa. Dine your corporate VIPs in the formal dining room, or network in one of the many family rooms. Practice your forehands and backhands at the tennis court or bond with your co-workers with at the pool house and sports bar. Spend the day sitting out on one of the several covered verandas for your corporate meeting instead of stuck inside a stuffy windowless meeting room. Show off your latest film or video presentation in the executive office. Take a stroll through the private orchard featuring dozens of different types of fruit and nut trees.

Bali Gardens is available for social events, corporate events, retreats, meetings, filming, and any event you can dream of. Overnight accommodations are also available.

Guilty Pleasures. We all have them. The women of Estate Weddings and Events are no exception. While we spend the vast majority of our sunny San Diego afternoons cooing over various themed weddings or birthday bonanzas, we can’t help but get caught up in the excitement of a good wedding show. (Any doctors out there watching Grey’s Anatomy?) So you can imagine our excitement when WeTV approached us about featuring one of our estates on their latest episode of My Fair Weddings. If that wasn’t enough, our school girl giggles rapidly succeeded into full blown grins when we were informed the theme would be The Wizard of Oz.

The Ranch House located in Moorpark was instantly transformed into an emerald and golden wonderland with a little help from a few amazing vendors in the area. Featured here, the couple skipped down their dream aisle adorned with a yellow brick road from the Original Runner Company and alongside glowing yellow floral arrangements by the  Los Angeles School of Flower Design. In perfect complement to the decorations of the evening, Blue Print Studios supplied the event with infinity chairs and farm tables for guests to lounge upon while marveling at the beauty displayed before them. The eyes and stomachs of every individual in attendance were kept busy and satiated by the Los Angeles based catering company, Maison Catering perfectly complimenting the ornate invitations designed and created by RSVP to Me.

Delight in the youthful yet everlasting ceremony and reception of Jaime and David. And remember, next time you require a spectacular venue unlike any other, “there’s no place like home”… Or should we say estate?
